Your Questions
How do I find out the price for an engagement ring I saw on your web site?
Since you choose the size and quality of your diamond, and the karat of gold or platinum for your ring, Spence Diamonds' unique manufacturing system means that almost any ring can be made to fit almost any budget. So the price for any particular ring can vary widely, depending on the choices you make. A diamond consultant at one of our retail showrooms can walk you through the process of choosing a diamond ring that suits your taste and your budget.
I've looked through all of the styles on your web site, but I can't quite find the ring I had in mind. Are there more styles I could see?
Only our best-selling designs are currently featured on our web site, simply because the cost of photographing and displaying our over 4000 designs on the Internet would be prohibitive. If you don't see the style you're looking for on our web site, drop by one of our showrooms to see our full selection of diamond jewellery and over 4000 diamond ring designs.
There's been a lot of press lately about Canadian diamonds. Does Spence carry them?
Direct from Canada's High Arctic, Spence Canadian Diamonds are cut and polished to perfection by master gem craftspeople. Each diamond is individually chosen for its exquisite beauty and laser inscribed with the Spence Diamonds logo.
Do you carry anything other than engagement and wedding rings?
Certainly. Although Spence Diamonds made its name as the "Engagement Ring Specialists", we also carry an extensive selection of earrings, pendants, bracelets and other diamond jewellery. Stop by any of our showrooms to see our full selection.
Do you offer financing for my jewellery purchase?
Yes, financing is available. You can contact any of our retail showrooms for details.
How much should I spend on a diamond engagement ring?
Although much of the advertising in the industry currently suggests that an engagement ring should cost approximately two months' salary, the correct answer to this question is, "Whatever you're comfortable with and whatever suits your budget".
How long has your company been in business?
Spence Diamonds has been manufacturing and selling diamond jewellery since 1978. Based in Vancouver, BC, we have several retail locations throughout Canada, with a diamond buying office in Belgium.
We bought my engagement ring from your Vancouver store a year ago, but have since moved to New Brunswick. Now we'd like to purchase the matching wedding band, but you don't have a location here. Can you help us?
Absolutely! Simply phone the Vancouver showroom, or any other Spence showroom near you. A diamond consultant will be happy to help you and can arrange to have the wedding band shipped to you.
How do I choose the perfect engagement ring for my girlfriend?
If she hasn't been dropping any obvious hints (emailing you her Spence Wish List, or taping photos on the refrigerator, for example), have a peek at the jewellery she currently wears. This should give you an idea of her style. Does she prefer white gold or yellow gold, and is the style simple or ornate?
Remember, unless you're planning to completely surprise her using one of our proposal tips, she'll probably be delighted to help you shop. She has great taste, too... she picked you, didn't she?
Does Spence sell conflict diamonds?
Our diamonds represent love not war. In compliance with United Nations resolutions, Spence diamonds are purchased only from legitimate sources which are not involved in funding conflict in any country. Based on either personal knowledge or guarantees from our suppliers, we guarantee that our diamonds are conflict free.
How should I care for my diamond jewellery?
With proper care and maintenance, your diamond jewellery can last a lifetime. Here are a few tips to help you prolong the life of your jewellery.
Clean your jewellery in warm, soapy water with a soft brush. Use a mild soap such as dish soap, and never use bleach or any cleaner containing bleach. Avoid wearing your jewellery when using household cleaners, which may tarnish gold. Even the chlorine in swimming pools can cause tarnishing, as can perfumes, colognes and perspiration, especially during the hot summer months. Avoiding chemicals of this nature is particularly important for white gold, which contains small amounts of nickel and other minerals which may tarnish when exposed to certain chemicals.
Also remember to remove your jewellery before doing manual labour or playing sports. Diamonds can be lost or chipped by a blow during these activities. And of course, feel free to drop by any of our showrooms and we will be happy to clean and inspect your Spence jewellery as a preventative measure.
