I remember visiting the Spence diamond in the Rideau center when it first opened and found the experience to be unique where you can try out rings of all styles, shapes and sizes. So I came to the College Square location on a whim as my partner wanted to know exactly what cut I preferred. Being able to go in and try all the variety of cuts and carats was super helpful.
I was greeted immediately and shown the rings based on carat size first so I could determine the size of carat we wanted to design. Then they told me to have a browse and to let them know if I had questions. My sales lady then disappeared to attend to a client in one of the rooms who came in. As I browsed the colored diamonds section another sales person told me that they could do any color diamond with intrigued me as I was looking for a purple stone. Later I find out that getting a purple diamond was near impossible for them to locate but they could do the typical blue, yellow, green etc. so this was a bit disappointing.
There are numerous styles to try on so being able to take your time and browse was great. In the end we narrowed down two styles but without the possibility of the purple diamond in the specific shade we wanted, we decided to custom with a jewelry in New York.
I would say this is a great place to start browsing if you are looking for an easy piece and aren’t looking to customize the ring from scratch. Salespeople knowledge are a bit of a hit or miss

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience with Spence. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, especially Susan. She went above and beyond to help us, explained everything in detail, and picked out the perfect ring. I couldn’t have asked for better service. I’ll definitely be coming back here in the future for my wedding band.
My partner and I went to Spence early august to browse rings. We walked into the Spence store and were greeted by the sweetest staff, we informed them we were looking at engagement rings and we were given a board to place our ring choices on. I wish I had a photo, it was so much fun walking into the open showcase! I genuinely felt like a kid in a candy store looking around, trying on prototype rings, and picking what I like. Ultimately we chose Style 71840.
After picking our style, we were sat down and got a PowerPoint (yes! A whole PowerPoint!) about how their diamonds are created and what the 4 C’s are. After, we got to see a Diamond based off our preferences and budget under a microscope! And we settled on a Diamond. The whole process was super fun and felt very inclusive.
My partner was informed the ring was ready and secretly picked up the ring around 2 weeks later, EXACTLY two weeks later, just like we were told. It came with a Diamond certificate, an information packet, and an appraisal for insurance.
My partner proposed, the most magical moment of my life, and the ring is so much more beautiful than I remember. The specs of my ring are (again) Style 71840 in white gold with a 0.79ct artisan created Diamond, it’s the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen and worn.
Spence offered routine maintenance for the ring (every year), and will replace a Diamond if lost.
Overall I’m so happy and so glad we went with Spence. We will probably go back for my wedding bands!
